WOLFGANG BECKSTEINER
[grid ]x Nr.1 (Strukturierte Raumbiegung)
Activity Day October 1, 2021
Time: 05:00 – 22:00
Materials: Wooden planks (5 cm x 5 cm), screws, black paint
Four differently dimensioned object fields – A: 393.5 cm x 130.5 cm, B: 210 cm x 194 cm, C: 274.5 cm x 89.5 cm, D: 345 cm x 61 cm – structured by parallel vertical lines, framed by two horizontals, form the starting point of Wolfgang Becksteiner‘s piece. By interlocking, in relation to one another, they develop spatial bodies in the landscape. The incident light sets the fixed object in permanent motion through its changing shadows. The movement of the viewers, on the other hand, causes visual superimpositions that bend our perception. The existence of the object dissolves in its appearance and we, by the act of observation, transform that appearance into existence.
