ROBERT BODNAR
LICHTFELD
Activity Day March 1, 2022
Time: 00:00 – 24:00
Materials: 13 PVC pipes (5 m), 2 lasers (red, violet), 4 mirrors (10 cm x 15 cm), 12 smoke bombs
Slowly, the drone flies over the meadow. Once it reaches the focal point, the abstract-looking sculpture made of pipes suddenly locks into place. A "trompe-de-caméra" becomes visible. The previously expanded space dissolves and becomes flat. Robert Bodnar's "LICHTFELD" developed from the idea of incorporating the drone, which was meant to document every intervention of the overall project from an aerial perspective, into the conceptual idea. The artwork explores the inner mechanics of photography using photography itself, making it tangible through the flying camera. The focal point symbolizes an ephemeral, highly virtualized photographic perspective that, despite its supposed post-photographic momentum, finds itself in the midst of the optical physics of the medium.
